about

This album is my love letter to rock and roll. It was fun to make. So stay seated, plug in a good pair of headphones and crank the volume. -Deener

credits

released January 14, 2015

Recorded over the past 18 months, a new way to find people… could not have been achieved without the love and support of my wife Kendra Deen.

A special shout out should also go to Jay Deen, Shane Deen and Madison Brown who all contributed their time and talents to help make this the best possible experience ever. I would also like to thank my folks, my siblings, my family, my friends and Batman, because he keeps us safe.

Finally, this project is equally the efforts of one Jason Sadlowski who recorded, produced and mixed the whole damn thing.

recorded at:
– My parent’s house (My old bedroom, basement pre-flood, basement post-flood)
– Echo Valley Studio
– Jason’s House
– Mark and Kendra’s Condo (bathroom, bedroom 1, bedroom 2) (suck it neighbours!)

mixed at:
– Jason’s House by Jason Sadlowski

mastered at:
– Lacquer Channel by Noah Mintz

Track Name: want ads
Working Night and Day
at my steady job
Plus the one I want
When do I hit stop?

Where do we go now babe?
Tell me where do we go now babe?
We’ve been tearing ourselves down baby
We’ve been tearing ourselves down baby!

Sometimes when people say
It’s adding up on me
Responsibility
Did I wait too long to succeed?

Where do we go now babe?
Tell me where do we go now babe?
We’ve been tearing ourselves down baby
We’ve been tearing ourselves down baby!

Where do we go now babe?
Tell me where do we go now babe?
We’ve been tearing ourselves down baby
We’ve been tearing ourselves down baby!
Track Name: computer computer
Teenage respect
But its attention I get
Too much I know I project ah ah ah ah
With these vacant regrets
Heartache unlatched
In a screenshot attached
Forward your address ah ah ah ah ah
To the message I sent

In love
In love
In love
In love
With information

Take off your top
Without a reason or thought
Inside a room that turns off… ahhh ahh ahh ahh
Papered over Unlocked
Romance enhanced
In a house made of glass
Emotional lash ahh ahh ahh ahh
Undo if it lasts

In love
In love
In love
In love
With information
Track Name: Hockey Sticks
Late night university town
You drink the wine to wash the beer down
Standing on your head
Your friends are gone, and your cell phone is dead
Step to the curb, talk to a girl, strike up a conversation
Careful your words, don’t make hesitations

But she says, do, what, I, ask of you
Do, what, I, ask of you

Back at her apartment downtown
Sit on the couch and don’t make a sound
As if you’re well read
Think of a quip to get to her bed
Play out your words, think of things and flirtations
Pin all your hopes, on your, expectations

But she says, do, what, I, ask of you
Do, what, I, ask of you
Track Name: What do you have left to hang on to?
Dear Love, I adore
But she’s got to keep on moving
She can’t wait for these moments anymore
Even if on television
I will starve if I am frozen
So we got to keep on heating
Believe in tales that I can see
Not pictures that are from a movie

This one does
That one does
This one
This one does
That one does not
(Over top: you’re the one, the only one, keeping score, the only one)

You wish for too much
You wait for too much
You don’t have to rush
Or trust it on luck

Her dream, she depends
But you got to stop this yearning
Sit around and hit your head
Friday night to start your drinking
She goes out, parks her car
Buy a smoke and sip your coffee
Day to day and circle round
Same old approach for different problems

This one does
That one does
This one
This one does
That one does not
(Over top: you’re the one, the only one, keeping score, the only one)

You wish for too much
You wait for too much
You don’t have to rush
Or trust it on luck

No you can’t
Take on
Too much trouble
Track Name: red green blues
Complete
Change of direction
Hail storm coming down
Made of hesitant endeavors
Expectations abound
From friends and former lovers
Consolidated here tonight
Formed from popular opinion

And I’m down on luck
And nobody knows
Nobody knows
Nobody knows
But me
And I’m down on luck
But where did she go?
Where did she go?
Where did she go?
Please

Heal
Myself in the present
Someone that I never been before
But formed from a memory
And treat
Myself for the present
Cause I’m going to live my life
From now till it’s over

And I’m down on luck
And nobody knows
Nobody knows
Nobody knows
But me
And I’m down on luck
But where did she go?
Where did she go?
Where did she go?
Please

Cause I’m free
Now I believe!
Track Name: Part 1: Everyday People
It’s a tricky situation
That you find yourself in
Under constant observation
For the things that you did
And In my estimation
In my estimation
I don’t really give a shit

Everyday People
Everyday People
Everyday People
Everyday People
Are taking heads

I see the information
That you lost all your friends
And the trick to complication
Is forgiveness of sins
I got your frustrations
I got your frustrations
But you don’t see me giving in

Everyday People
Everyday People
Everyday People
Everyday People
Are taking heads

Oh yeah, I said I loved you, said I loved you said I loved you
Track Name: Part 2: Motivational Speaker
And I bleed it
Oh I will bleed it
I believe it
It’s my hope
I will read it
Rinse Repeat it
Will not cheat it
May not
And I see that
You disagree that
You don’t agree that
With what I know
Don’t concede it
Or try to grieve it
You naïve to it?
Is it wrong?

This tunnel vision is killing me
This tunnel vision is overrated

And I feel that
That I need it
Christmas eve it
Call it home
And I greet it
Like to Steve it
Like to breed it
So you know
I will beat it
Dance and meet it
Bath and feed it
Oh for sure
And I lead it
Need to heed it
Not misread it
So you know

This tunnel vision is killing me
This tunnel vision is overrated
Track Name: Iscariot
All my life I’ve focused
On the things that aren’t too plain
Slave to my fixations
My contradictions
Works of my persuasion
And interest to gain

I would rather be damned
And Ignorant, live for myself
I would rather be damned and be damned

I would rather be damned
And Ignorant, live for myself
I would rather be damned and be damned

Spoken words of my pity
Blank motives of no substance to blame
What is a man to do?
Who walks in others shoes?
Maybe he says I’m wealthy

All we are we hold in ourselves
Track Name: Fragment
Overly nice people in their cars
Thinking about mannerisms
Red light Green light stuck between these doors
Tied down to ourselves in this traffic

She thinks to herself about these words
“Just who is this for?” All these fragments
Birthdays, Mondays and the days before
I lie to myself, in this traffic

Single, couple, family of four
He will speak for her, her decisions
Pictures displayed, that will underscore
The moments, she knows, that are hidden

And I, I feel that I’m in between
All these little things, all these moments
Hundreds if not, the times we have been
Always standing still
Destinations

And I, I am, I am not myself
Not like anymore, not like children
And I, I’ve see, I’ve seen better things
But I did not know, how to focus

And I, I feel that I’m in between
All these little things, all these moments
Hundreds if not, the times we have been
Always standing still
Destination

And I, I am, I am not myself
Not like anymore, not like children
And I, I’ve see, I’ve seen better things
But I did not know, how to focus
Track Name: Pillar
And I was born
Long ago
Without my friends
And I was grown
Long ago
But was it my end?
But I think that it’s gone
And it frustrates me to hell
What once was reflex
Is all that’s left of a complex
That no one can tell

No other plans, all I got
No other plans, all I got
But I’ll be glad, when I’m done
But I’ll be glad, when I’m done
See till the end, See till the end
Ask my instead? But that it’s not

And I know
That it’s gone
I’ll learn it again
And I know
That it’s gone
I’ll build it again

No other plans, all I got
No other plans, all I got
But I’ll be glad, when I’m done
But I’ll be glad, when I’m done
See till the end, See till the end
Ask my instead? But that it’s not
